Bigstep Launches Bare-Metal Cloud for Big Data in the U.S.

Full-Stack Platform Changes the Economics of Big Data with Easy-to-Configure, High-Performance and Highly Secure Bare-Metal Cloud

CHICAGO--()--Bigstep, the only provider of a full-stack bare-metal cloud built for big data, today announced its launch in the U.S. From its new Chicago-based data center and U.S. headquarters, Bigstep provides companies with the security and performance of a private bare-metal infrastructure, the self-service and on-demand scalability of the public cloud, and the versatility and convenience of an integrated stack of big data applications.

“Big data has the power to transform business and society, but the cost, time and complexity of building out solutions and running the required infrastructure can be overwhelming, even for the largest organizations,” said Bigstep CEO and Founder Lucas Roh, who sold his prior company, the global hosting provider Hostway, in 2013.

“While many people look to the public cloud as a way to lower big data costs and to make it more scalable, they quickly find that potential benefits are more than outweighed by increased security risks and diminished performance,” added Roh. “Bigstep changes the economics of big data, releasing its potential by putting it within reach of all enterprises, large and small.”

Bigstep features a fast-growing suite of tightly integrated enterprise-grade big data applications, including Cloudera CDH, Hortonworks, MapR, Couchbase, Datameer, DataStax, Docker, Elastic, Exasol, Splunk and Tableau. Bigstep’s full-stack service portfolio also includes the world’s first Data-Lake-as-a-Service, providing a low-cost HDFS-based storage repository directly compatible with most big data applications.

With Bigstep, even the most complex big data projects can be up and running in just minutes, through its intuitive drag-and-drop user interface or by pre-designed, use-specific blueprints.

With the opening of the U.S. office, Bigstep has dual headquarters in London and Chicago.
